Maddie had belonged to an older woman who was no longer able to keep her. Maddie just wants to be held and loved.   If you’re looking for a tiny friend to adore and spoil, then Maddie just might be the dog for you. She is so small that we wouldn’t recommend she go to a home with young children who might be too rough around her.  She could also be easily hurt by a dog larger than she is.

Walt Disney would have taken one look at Tatum and signed him under contract.  He is truly precious with his scruffy terrier hair. He is also a tiny love bug who thrives on being held and cuddled.  He was recently surrendered because his caretaker works long hours, and felt it was unfair for him to be alone so much.  She rescued him from a bad home. Tatum is afraid of dogs larger than him, but otherwise friendly with other dogs. He likes cats and will even play with them.  He is a real cutie.

Josie had been bought as a therapy dog for the family’s disabled daughter, but dealing with a puppy and a disabled child proved to be too much for them to handle. Anyone wanting to adopt a puppy from CDHA needs to have a flexible schedule or to not work full time.  No first-time adopters for Josie.

]]> Winston is a male neutered dachshund mix about 4 years old. He weighs about 32 pounds.

Winston is a loving boy at heart but struggles with some anxiety that makes it hard for him to interact with large dogs and children. He is smart, and has responded well to the training we have done with him. He is housebroken and potty trained. He was crate trained but does not currently use the crate. He loves going on walks, relaxing in his bed, being outdoors in our fenced in yard, and running laps outside very fast. He is so sweet and loving when it is just us but he needs extra support when in new situations that he is unsure about. Currently he is on medication to help his anxiety (Fluoxetine).  He truly thrives when he’s able to bond closely with someone and be part of their daily life. Because of this, we believe he would do best in a calm, child-free, pet-free home with an experienced, understanding owner who can offer him the time and support he needs to help him feel comfortable.

Max (aka “Mr. Mann” ) is a terrific fellow who gets along well with other dogs 9we don’t know about cats) and is sweet and affectionate.   If he were to go to a home with a fenced yard, that fence would have to be high enough that he couldn’t jump it.
